【Main Products】

Scanned data of handwritten calligraphy

High-resolution scanned data of calligraphic artwork penned with soul by a calligrapher. For all uses, including body art, social media, and interior decor.

Temple preservation of the original artwork

The original calligraphic artwork will be carefully preserved at Tokuzoji Temple. (Note: Tokuzoji Temple is currently relocating. The original artwork will continue to be carefully kept even after the relocation.)

Meaning interpretation report

A detailed report explaining why certain kanji were chosen, their connection to your story, and the prayers and intentions of the monk.

Hanging scroll (scroll painting)

The original calligraphic artwork will be made into a hanging scroll (scroll painting) and delivered to your home. Display it on a wall, place it in an alcove, or keep it in a special place – your name will arrive in your hands as a physical work of art.

Your Zen Name and its meaning will be recorded on Tokuzoji Temple's official website. You can choose whether it is public or private.

Video recording of the naming ceremony

A video recording of the moment the monk bestows your Zen Name will be made and delivered to you. Scenes of the monk carefully writing with prayers, and a message explaining the meaning of the name – this video will be a lifelong treasure.

From order to delivery

  1. Interview Please fill out the form on this page with details about the origin of your name, your values, and your life story.
  2. Purchase & Payment After filling out the form, proceed directly to payment. Credit card and various other payment methods are accepted.
  3. Naming A monk will bestow a name with prayers. An interpretation report will also be created.
  4. Confirmation Please confirm the kanji, reading, and meaning. If there are any discrepancies, adjustments will be made as necessary before final production.
  5. Calligraphy, Production, and Filming A calligrapher will write the calligraphic artwork, which will be made into a hanging scroll. The naming ceremony will be video recorded.
  6. Web Recording Your Zen Name will be recorded on Tokuzoji Temple's official website.
  7. Delivery A set of digital data, the hanging scroll, and the ceremony video will be delivered.

※ Delivery typically takes 4-6 weeks after payment (estimate). Time is required for video recording and editing of the ceremony, and preparation for web recording.
