In January 2024, Tokuzo-ji Temple suffered extensive damage due to the Noto Peninsula Earthquake.
A portion of Zen Name's proceeds will be allocated to the maintenance of Tokuzo-ji Temple and the cultural revitalization of Noto.

What is a Zen name? Is it different from a Buddhist name? +
A Zen Name is your personal kanji name, inspired by the tradition of "Hōmyō" (Dharma names) in Japanese Buddhism. Originally, a Hōmyō was bestowed as proof of one's devotion to the Buddhist path, but a Zen Name requires no religious affiliation or conversion whatsoever. It is a "cultural naming experience" where a monk prayerfully selects a name that resonates with your life story.
Do I have to convert to a religion? +
Not at all. Zen Name is a service that does not require you to convert to or join a particular religion. Anyone can apply, regardless of their faith or religious background.
What happens if there's an issue with the name? +
Before the final production, we provide an opportunity to confirm the kanji, reading, and meaning. If there are any errors in the notation or a significant discrepancy from your intentions, we will consult with the monk as necessary to make adjustments. Please note that Zen Name is a personalized naming service, so it does not allow for free changes based solely on personal preference, unlike general ordered products.
Can I use this as a tattoo design? +
Yes. The high-resolution scan data of the handwritten calligraphy, included in all plans, can be given directly to your tattoo artist. "The correct kanji with professional brushwork"—that's one of the biggest reasons to choose Zen Name.
How long does it take from order to delivery? +
After payment is complete, your order will typically be delivered in 2–4 weeks. This timeframe is due to the monk meticulously naming each individual order. Plans that include physical products (scrolls, framed items) may require an additional 1–2 weeks for production and shipping.
Do you ship internationally? +
Yes, it is possible. Inquiries from countries other than those we support are also welcome, so please contact us individually for consultation.
Can I buy this as a gift? +
